Soror Jean Elizabeth Quarterman Moore

Soror Jean Elizabeth Quarterman Moore initiated at the Gamma Upsilon Chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. at then Savannah State College in 1959. Here, she received a Bachelor of Science Degree in Mathematics in 1961. In 1965, Soror Jean became employed as the first African American case worker for the Liberty County Department of Family and Children Services. She later excelled to become the first African American to be named as Director of Family and Children Services in Liberty County. In 1980, Soror Jean was a charter member of the Nu Rho Omega Chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. in Hinesville, Georgia. She served the chapter in various positions including Chapter President and Soror of the Year six times.
